Northern Axis – Barents Link project (NABL) aims to develop east -west transport corridor and cross-border mobility in the Barents Euro-Arctic Region. The project activities are exploring the potential of the main transport infrastructure in the border areas alongside the Northern Axis – Barents Link transport corridor. The project is expected to identify the bottlenecks of the transport corridor further harmonizing Northern Axis – Barents Link development.
Project activities include several road and railroad studies across the transport corridor, a study on wind energy potential and low-flight civil aviation between Northern Finland and Russia. In addition, project has a study on the impacts of diversification of road & rail freight and passenger transport on the Vartius/Lytta border crossing.
