Culture and military history – study and networking trip to Suomussalmi on June 6, 2024

UPDATE ON 30.5.: THE STUDY TRIP IS FULLY BOOKED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR REGISTRATION. REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS WILL GET FURTHER INFORMATION VIA EMAIL.

Suomussalmi may already be familiar to you – but have you thought about how the municipality combines culture and military history as part of tourism? What kind of cultural events are associated with the writer Ilmari Kianto 150th anniversary year? And what insights has Raatteen portti war museum come up with for tourists?

On June 6, 2024, the international CHERRY cultural project will make a study and networking trip to Suomussalmi. The trip is aimed at people working in the cultural and creative fields and tourism in the Kainuu area. The Regional Council of Kainuu is a partner in the CHERRY project, and organising this trip for stakeholders and other interested participants.

We are putting together a toolkit of good practices from the preparations for the writer Ilmari Kianto anniversary year and the Kainuu book fair, and we will see, for example, a digital exhibition related to Arctic Wars.
