The first Kainuu culture morning coffees were held in Teams on Wednesday morning, February 7, 2024.
We discussed about the upcoming events in different parts of Kainuu. You can get an overview of the events from the Tapahtumien Kainuu (Events Kainuu) website. In the discussion, it was hoped that information about the site would also be given to new updaters. It would be important to receive information about events as early as possible in terms of cooperation opportunities and, for example, marketing and tourism.
Below is a summary of current joint projects and events.

Information about joint development
- Influencing the national cultural policy report: on 29.2.2024 a regional event in Kuhmo (organized by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland and the Ministry of Education and Culture)
- The application period for The Finnish Cultural Fund (skr.fi) ends on 9.2.2024
- KAIPO (Strengthening networks of culture in Kainuu and North Ostrobothnia) project 2024–2025 as a continuation of the development work carried out in previous projects. This project has received a special grant of 160,000 euros from the Ministry of Education and Culture for the implementation of the task of developing the cultural activities of municipalities. Project kick off in Teams on 12.2.2024.
International cultural projects
- Literary tourism project technology workshop on Kalevala day 28.2.2024 (N-LiTe, Interreg NPA).
- CHERRY: Good regional practices are collected in Kainuu from cultural and creative fields (Interreg Europe). More information about the CHERRY project can be found on the website of the Regional Council of Kainuu.
- The Interreg Aurora program now also extends to Kainuu region. International cultural projects are also welcome to apply (The Regional Council of Kainuu is organising a Zoom-info on 9.2.)
