Culture, creative industries, and natural heritage were topics in the meeting of CHERRY project on 12-13 September in Veszprém, Hungary. There were almost 30 participants from all across Europe. Participants from Kainuu were Regional Development Specialist Minna Komulainen and Project Coordinator Elina Keränen from the Regional Council of Kainuu, and Head of Library and Culture Services Hanne Heikkinen from the City of Kuhmo as a stakeholder.
The host partner was from Balaton region, Hungary, and there were representatives from Veneto & Friuli Venezia regions (Italy), Leiedal (Belgium), Central Romania, and Zemgale (Latvia). The partners from West-Greece attended online via Zoom.
In the meeting we presented the valorization of cultural and natural heritage assets in different regions. We also were divided into two groups that discussed about digitalization in the fields of culture and creative industries, and European Capitals of Culture.
It was told that in Hungary many people have a story from the famous lake Balaton. A cottage, the first love… this relationship between the nature and people, is the specialty of the region as the European Capital of Culture of this year 2023.
What kind of stories will we find from the shores of Oulujärvi Lake, when the Oulu 2026 European Capital of Culture year is coming closer. There are also many projects from Kainuu in the program, and even more projects are expected.
