BRIDGES Project Won a Prize as the Best Interreg Europe Project in the Thematic Category of Research & Innovation

Kainuun Etu Ltd and Regional Council of Kainuu have been leading an Interreg Europe project called BRIDGES, that has won a first prize among Interreg Europe Research & Innovation category projects.

The BRIDGES project implementation period has been running from 10th February 2016 on and is coming to an end on 31st March 2021. BRIDGES project application was submitted to the first call of the Interreg Europe programme, under the theme of Research & Innovation.

On 1.10.2020 it was announced by the Interreg Europe programme that BRIDGES was selected among the 30 best Interreg Europe projects (please see the publication: When Europe cooperates, regions benefit https://www.interregeurope.eu/news-and-events/news/10468/30-stories-about-policy-changes). On 10.12.2020, it was selected to be the winner of the Research & Innovation category.

The BRIDGES project was submitted to the Interreg Europe programme by Kainuun Etu Oy as lead partner. Recently the leadership has been assumed by the Regional Council of Kainuu.

For Kainuu, the BRIDGES project introduced, through its action plan new uses of lignin as forest-industry side-flow, supported the commercialization by internationalization of Kainuu’s research base through pilot initiatives and invests further into the BERRY+ S3 industrial modernization partnership towards interregional research-to-business investments.
