Open Call for Experimental Funding to Develop Cultural Activities

The Kulttuuri-Kainuu project is opening a call for funding aimed at the cultural actors and municipalities in Kainuu. The purpose is to try new solutions and to develop cultural activities. The call is open from 4th to 30th May 2022. A how-to-apply webinar will be held on Monday 9 May from 10am to 11am.

The Kulttuuri-Kainuu (Cultural Kainuu) project, implemented by the Regional Council of Kainuu and funded by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, is opening a call for development ideas related to cultural activities. The call is aimed both at cultural actors and municipalities in the Kainuu region.

The aim of this call is to find and develop new ideas and operating models for implementing cultural activities. Thereby the goal is to improve opportunities for Kainuu residents to participate in cultural services in different parts of Kainuu, and to promote the employment opportunities of professional artists through new ways of working. With help of the upcoming experiments it is possible to develop e.g. new types of event concepts (new event ideas and production methods) or forms of bringing up artists and art, for example through pop-up activities. Preferably the experiments should target a wide range of target groups/ culture consumers.

The open call is focusing on new content that develops the cultural services or measures that clearly renew existing activities. We wish for the experiments to extend or to be transferable to more than one municipality in Kainuu, as well as to increase co-operation between municipalities in providing cultural services and improving regional cultural production.

This first call for applications will be opened on May 4th and closed on May 30th  2022 at 12:00 noon. In addition to this call for applications, new rounds for experimental funding will be arranged again in the autumn of 2022 and in 2023. A total of € 30,000 has been allocated for the experiments for 2022–2023. You can find more detailed information about the rules and practices of the search round that opens in the search notice below.
