Project Objective

The overall objective of the project is to strengthen cross-border cooperation between regions and to create a platform for continuous cooperation and systematic cooperative consortium of development work to ensure the smooth, safe, functional and sustainable operation of cross-border transport chains and accessibility. The current geopolitical situation and the fast-developing industrial structure of the northern regions affect to the need to develop logistics and transport corridors. At the same time, the green transition and the commitment of states and the EU to the highly challenging carbon neutrality targets require sustainable and energy-efficient multi-modal transport solutions.

Security of supply has become a very important topic, and logistics is very central factor to it. Accessibility is part of vitality of the regions. In addition to freight transport, the vitality of the area and the development of economic structures require versatile and functional mobility solutions for passenger transport. The use of new technologies, such as electric aviation, has the potential to achieve solutions to future mobility needs both between regions, nationally and internationally and, in addition, to meet the requirements of achieving carbon neutrality targets in passenger transport. The compilation of up-to-date information and the preparation of forecasts of future
transport needs and their directions are therefore an important basis for promoting smooth cross-border transport chain operating conditions and removing bottlenecks in infrastructure and service supply.
